Melvin Lee Braden, 81, of Lawrenceburg, IN, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 1:04 PM at St. Elizabeth Dearborn Hospital. Melvin was born in Aurora, IN on October 21, 1940, a son of the late Edna (Miller) and William B. Braden. He attended school at Aurora High School in Aurora, IN. Melvin was employed for many years for Willard Industries, retiring as a manager and having had held various other positions throughout his career. On January, 23, 1960, he was married to his beloved wife, Shirley (Block). They were married for over 62 years until his passing. Melvin enjoyed the outdoors, going fishing, and making memories with his family taking them camping. Spending time with family was his greatest joy. Melvin also had a love of animals, especially his dog, Rufus.
Melvin is survived by his wife Shirley Braden of Lawrenceburg, IN; daughters Vicki Burleson (Pete) of Pendleton, IN, Sherry Mullen (Jim) of Lawrenceburg, IN, Deanna Meadors (Chris) of Sunman, IN, and Shirley J. Jones (Dave) of Alexandria, KY; adopted sons Gary Moore of Dillsboro, IN and Brian Moore (Sarah) of Dry Ridge, KY; sister-in-law Frances Caudill of Harrison, IN; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by sons Melvin “Skip” Braden Jr. and Rick W. Braden; brothers William Braden and Charles Braden; sisters Marjorie Smith, Barbara Curran, and Betty Jones.
Private services will be held by the family. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Markland Funeral Home serving the family.
