Michael R. Poling

Michael R. Poling, 58, of near Quercus Grove, IN, passed away on Tuesday, February 9th, 2021 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY. Mike was born in Madison, IN on November 8, 1962, a son of Linda  L. (Green) Poling and the late Wilbur E. "Webb" Poling. Mike grew up in Switzerland County was a 1981 graduate of Switzerland County High School. He married Carol (Smith) Poling on February 5, 1983 at the Temple Baptist Church in Patriot, IN. Mike and Carol recently celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary. Mike worked as a project supervisor for the Indiana Department of Transportation and was employed there for 38 years. He was a member of the Florence Masonic Lodge #27.  Mike was a Dodge and Chrysler man and enjoyed going to the Mopar Nationals. He also liked going to swap meets and traveling. He would go shopping (but not all day). Mike also collected guns and knives. Mike was a farmer at heart and liked his Allis-Chalmers tractors. Spending time with his family is what he cherished most. Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He was just truly a nice guy that would help anyone and he will be deeply missed.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Carol Poling, of near Quercus Grove, IN; by 2 daughters, Shaina Watson (Jake), of East Enterprise, IN and Shelby Lucas (Andy), of near Quercus Grove, IN; by his mother, Linda Poling, of near Quercus Grove, IN; by his grandchildren: Kali,Kyndal, Kadence, Adeleigh and Case; by his brother, Steven Poling, of Patriot, IN; by his mother and father-in-law, Priscilla "Toy" and Gardy Smith, of Rising Sun, IN; by sisters-in law, Ginger Kincaid (Scotty), of Rising Sun, IN and Gina Hall (Jason), of Lawrenceburg, IN; by brother-in-law, Troy Smith, of Patriot, IN and by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Mike is also survived by his little buddy Newman, his pet Yorkie. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur E. Poling on February 6, 2002 and by his brother, Wilbur Dale Poling on November 11, 2019.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM, Monday, February 15th at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Pastor Patrick Lanman officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, February 14th from 5-8 PM at Markland Funeral Home. Burial will be at Vevay Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Community Foundation of Switzerland County (checks to CFSCI) to support the Keeping Pace Cancer Fund.
