Naomi "Scottie" Allen Obituary

Naomi A. "Scottie" Allen was born in Switzerland County, IN on July 13, 1925, a daughter of the late Nellie (Porter) and Harry  Scott. She was a graduate of Patriot High School, Class of 1943. Scottie married Merle Allen, Jr. on June 29, 1943 in Patriot, IN. Scottie and Junior were married 45 years until his passing on August 9, 1988. Scottie worked at Seagram's Distillery in Lawrenceburg, IN from  1947 to 1986, retiring after 39 years of service. Scottie had a fondness for turtles, which led to a lifelong collection of anything turtle related. She even had a turtle club card and sign. Scottie loved playing cards with the grand kids, and then the great grand kids. She also enjoyed going to the adult meal site every day , playing cards and bingo with her friends.  Scottie liked going to the casinos and actually traveled on the first bus trip to Indianapolis to show support for Rising Sun's prospect of getting a casino. She was also a big fan of the Cincinnati Reds and rarely missed watching or listening to a game. Scottie was also famous for her homemade peanut butter fudge. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch watching people go by and waiting for someone to pull in the drive to say, "Hi." Scottie passed away at 3:58 PM, Saturday, May 2nd, 2020 at Highpoint Health in Lawrenceburg,IN at the age of 94.

Scottie is survived by a son, Stephen Allen and wife Janet, of Madison, IN; by a daughter, Sheree Armstrong and husband Lane, of Patriot, IN; by granddaughter, Shonda Rose and husband Tony, of Vevay, IN; by grandson, Jeremy Armstrong, of Shelbyville, IN; by granddaughter, Amy Crawford, of Jeffersonville, IN; by great granddaughters: Chelsea Kirkpatrick and husband Klint, of Rising Sun, IN, Kristen Rose, of Vevay, IN and Mya Crawford, of Jeffersonville, IN and by great great grandchildren, Brinley and Blayke Wright, of Vevay, IN. Scottie was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Merle "Junior" Allen, by her brother Denver Scott and by her precious great granddaughter, Lauren Rose.

Family graveside services will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, May 9th at Cedar Hedge Cemetery in Rising Sun, IN with Pastor Mike Jones officiating.
