Orville Ray Peters

Orville Ray Peters, 90, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on Saturday, March 5th, 2022 at Aspen Place Health Center in Greensburg, IN. Orville was born in Vevay, IN on September 2, 1931, a son of the late Bertha Margaret (Martin) and Everett R. Peters. He grew up in Switzerland County and was a 1949 graduate of Vevay High School. Orville proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Corporal, receiving the Army Occupation & National Defense Service Medals. Orville married Estella Mae (Banta) Peters on June 1, 1951. Orville and Estella were married over 70 years until her passing earlier this year on January 4th. Orville was a farmer most of his life and also drove a school bus for Rising Sun/Ohio County School Corporation for 8 years. The Peters’ family were always big supporters of the 4-H program and Orville was a former member of the Ohio County 4-H Fair Board. Orville and Estella loved their farm life but also enjoyed traveling when they got the opportunity.

Orville is  survived by his two daughters, Marsha Robinson and husband John, of Loveland, OH and Judy Cox, of Indianapolis, IN; by his son, Rick Peters and wife Marlene, of Vevay, IN; by grandchildren: David (Jeannette) Robinson of Loveland, OH, Timothy (Joey-Lynn) Robinson of Milford, OH, Amanda (Jason) Lucas of Indianapolis, IN, Rachel (Philip) Trbovic of Indianapolis, IN, Meghan (Anthony) Kaczmarek of Rising Sun, IN & Kayla (Zac) Nelson of Vevay, IN; by great grandchildren: Chester, Alden, Beau, Riley, Georgiana, Eli, James, & Lucy. Orville was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Bertha (Martin) Peters, by his stepmother, Anna (Birkemeier) Peters, by his wife, Estella (Banta) Peters, and by a great granddaughter, Elsie Robinson.

At Orville’s request, graveside services will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 12:30 PM.  Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Ohio County 4-H Program. Markland Funeral Home of Rising Sun serving the family.  marklandfuneralhome.com
