Patricia "Pat" Louise (Higham) LaVelle

Patricia Louise "Pat" LaVelle, 72, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on Monday, March 15th, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Dearborn in Lawrenceburg, IN. Pat was born in Milan, IN on October 28, 1948, a daughter of the late Juanita (York) Vankirk and Carroll  Higham. She was a graduate of Moores Hill High School, Class of 1966. Pat married Gary Wayne  LaVelle on June 6, 1980. Pat and Gary were married 40 years until her passing. Together they owned and operated LaVelle's Tax Service in Rising Sun, IN for over 40 years. Pat also formerly worked at the Aurora Casket Company, Family Service in Cincinnati, OH and the Vevay Shoe Factory. Pat was a member of the Rising Sun Church of Christ. Pat liked to go shopping and loved to travel. She especially enjoyed visiting the Smokey Mountains and going to Florida to see their grandchildren.

Pat is  survived by her loving husband, Gary LaVelle, of Rising Sun, IN; by her two daughters, Kerry Bernecker, of Dillsboro, IN and Bridgette Lack, of Aurora, IN;  by her son, Brandon LaVelle DC (Tasha), of Port Orange, FL; by grandchildren, Kaysie, Baileigh, Amara and Monroe; by two sisters, Janice Uhlmansiek , of Aurora, IN and  Sandy Bruce (Norman), of Aurora, IN; by her half brother, Roger Higham (Cathy), of Fountaintown, IN; by her step-sister, Nancy Horton, of Rising Sun, IN; by her mother-in-law, Lauretta LaVelle, of Rising Sun, IN and by many other family members and friends. Pat was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, David Higham.
 
Funeral services will be at 11 AM, Friday, March 19th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Pastor Shane White officiating. Visitation will be held 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 18th at Markland Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Rising Sun Church of Christ or Ohio County EMS.
