Patrick Paul Allen

Patrick Paul Allen was born January 2, 1970 at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg, Indiana the first son of James Edwin Allen (Jim) and LaVerne Cochran Allen (Leigh). During Patrick’s earliest years, the family resided on their Salem Ridge farm in Ohio County. Jim Allen was broker/owner of Allen Real Estate, and Patrick spent a lot of his time tagging along with Jim on listings and showings, or playing in the office while his parents worked. Patrick also spent a lot of quality time with his maternal grandmother, Mabel Cochran, reading books, playing card games and attending church and Sunday School with her, and summer Vacation Bible School at First Baptist Church of Rising Sun. On December 12, 1976, the family welcomed their second son, Scott Andrew Allen and then moved to Aurora, Indiana where Patrick and Scott grew up and went to school. Patrick attended St. John’s Lutheran School and then South Dearborn High School.  Patrick grew into a talented golfer, and he and his father golfed together at Dearborn County Country Club in his teen years.  Jim and Leigh owned several boats throughout the years; being on the water was a favorite family pastime and Patrick became an avid water skier and fisherman. After his high school graduation in 1988, Patrick attended Vincennes University studying business for two years and then returned home to Southeastern Indiana and attended Northern Kentucky University. Jim and Patrick were both interested in flying and together learned to fly ultralight planes, owning their own ultralight at one time.  Patrick worked primarily as a heavy equipment operator, but also drove a long haul semi nationwide for several years. The majority of his working career was spent with Jergensen Construction and their subsidiaries.  He was a born animal lover, and although the family had many cats as he and Scott were growing up, dogs were especially important to Pat and he had several beloved dogs he doted on though out his life. Patrick’s father, Jim, developed a serious heart condition in 2010 and Patrick stayed nearer home to be close to Jim, who lived near Batesville, Indiana, until Jim’s death on February 18, 2017. In recent years, his background in flying led to an interest in drone technology and a natural talent for aerial photography and video mixing emerged. In 2020, he launched his company, Allen Aerial Photography, and was building a successful business in drone video photography for the local real estate market. Patrick died on June 2, 2022 in Dearborn County, Indiana.  Patrick is survived by his wife, Kelley Cannada, his mother LaVerne (Leigh) Allen, his brother Scott Andrew Allen, numerous cousins, family members and friends.

There will be a family and friends gathering on Saturday, June 18th from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the Ewbank Room at the Lawrenceburg Public Library, 150 Mary St, Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Please come to share a favorite memory of Patrick with his family.
