Patsey Ann Chapman, 88, of Rising Sun, Indiana, passed away March 24, 2026 at
the Waters of Dillsboro. Patsey was born on November 23, 1937, a daughter of
Coy Lee Shaver and Emma Maryanna (Grace) Shaver. She attended school in Ohio
County and later became employed at the Ohio County Courthouse, working in the
treasurer’s office. On November 15, 1958, Patsey was married to Lloyd ‘Tommy”
Chapman. The couple shared over 60 years together in marriage until Tommy’s
passing on September 29, 2019. Patsey attended the Rising Sun Church of Christ
where she enjoyed the fellowship and singing with other members of the
congregation. Patsey had a knack for being able to fix anything. Her creativity was
especially expressed when she was working on restoring antique furniture or
completing an impressive sewing project. Going for walks was also a favorite
pastime of hers. Above all, at the center of Patsey’s heart was her faith and her
family, who she considered her biggest blessings.
Patsey is survived by daughters Gayla Stephenson (Terry) of Rising Sun, Indiana,
Anita Wilber (John) of Rising Sun, Indiana, and Tamara “Tammy” Grace
of Madison, Indiana; daughter-in-law Beth Chapman of Rising Sun, Indiana; brother Donald Shaver (Marcia) of Rising
Sun, Indiana; sisters Peggy Lee Marble (Jimmy) of Aurora, Indiana, and
Melody Sue Striker of Hebron, Kentucky; 10 grandchildren; as well as several great grandchildren.
