Rena Jean (Cole) Hinson

Rena Jean (Cole) Hinson, 64, of Cleves, Ohio, passed away February 13, 2026 at Mercy West Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Rena was born on January 3, 1962 in Minot, North Dakota, the daughter of Ralph and Gloria (Ollman) Cole of Aurora, Indiana. Rena completed her high school education and went on to have a longtime career managing Steak-N-Shake until her retirement. Following retirement, Rena took up her favorite job of all, being grandma. Rena was the mother of Jamie Cole of Kentucky, Chris Slayback of Indiana, Bridget Smith of Ohio, and Dustin Aaron Smith, who preceded her in death on February 6, 2022. Rena delighted in her children and grandchildren and will be dearly missed by them all. On August 17, 2007, she was married to Kirk Anthony Hinson of Cleves, Ohio. The couple enjoyed over 18 years together in marriage until her passing. Rena attended Restoration Christian Church.  

In addition her parents, husband, children, and grandchildren, Rena is survived by mother-in-law Mary Ellen Hinson of Aurora, Indiana.

Services will be held Friday, February 20th, at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, Indiana, visitation 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM and funeral 1:00 PM with burial to follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist.

A memorial service will also be held at Restoration Christian Church, 5830 State Route 128, Cleves, Ohio 45002, on February 28th at 5:00 PM.
