Richard Cody Farr, 20, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away Monday, March 4th, 2019 at his residence. Cody was born in Savannah, GA on May 17, 1998. He was a graduate of Rising Sun High School, Class of 2016 and was a member of National Honor Society and Hoosier Boys State. Cody formerly worked for Belterra Casino Resort as a laundry attendant. Cody went on to proudly serve his country in the US Navy during Operation Inherent Resolve. While in service, Cody received the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and Navy Pistol Marksmanship Ribbon. He was also a member of Rising Sun American Legion Post 59. Cody enjoyed listening to many different kinds of music. He also liked watching movies, playing video games and traveling. He was a huge Georgia Bulldogs fan. Cody was an animal lover, especially dogs, snakes, lizards and any other reptile you could think of. Cody was a cutup and wanted people to be happy and at ease. He always put the feelings of others above his own. Cody is survived by his father and stepmother, Ricky and Renee Farr; by his mother and stepfather, Susan and Charles Waller; by grandparents: Robert and Donna Moore, Larry and Vanessa Haupt and Robert Hickman; by bother, Austin Slack; by aunts Tina Baer and Melissa Hickman; by uncle Rob Hickman; by cousins Chris Baer and Joseph Hickman; by his loving fiancee Shana McGuire, by his beloved daughter to be, Nevaeh, by future mother-in-law Heidi Goff and future brothers-in-law Jake and Kyle McGuire. A memorial service for Cody will be held at 12 PM, Saturday, March 16th at the Rising Sun Church of Christ with Brother Nathan Pelehowski officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 AM until time of service. Full military color guard services will be held on the church grounds following the memorial service.
