Robert A. Lawson

Robert A. Lawson, 81, of  Rising Sun, IN, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Dearborn, Lawrenceburg, IN. Robert was born in McCreary County, Kentucky on December 29, 1939, a son of the late Alma (Abbott) and John Arless Lawson. On  November 8, 1958, he was married to Margie Bolin. They were married for over 62 years until his passing. Robert worked for OPW, Division of Dover Corporation, for 37 years until his retirement. Robert pastored Hope Ministries Community Church for 11 years, serving in the ministry in total for nearly 40 years. Robert was passionate about farming, raising his cows, and tending to his garden from which he would can all sorts of fruits and vegetables. He took great pride in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was an avid Reds fan, never missing a game if at all possible. He also enjoyed watching westerns, with John Wayne being his favorite, and spent countless hours working puzzles together with his wife.

Robert is survived by his wife, Margie Lawson of Rising Sun, IN; daughters Stephanie Kilburn and husband Myron of Rising Sun, IN and Sandra McCracken and husband Bryan of Rising Sun, IN; brother Dale Lawson of Dillsboro, IN; sisters Brenda Murray of Bethel, OH, Glenda Franks of Dallas, TX, and Teresa West of Stearns, KY; brother-in-law Bruce Trammell of Pineknot, KY; 9 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Geneva Lawson, son Anthony "Tony" Lawson, daughters Tina Lawson and Robin Lawson, brothers Jim Lawson, Jack Lawson, and Arthur Lawson, sister, Opal Harris and her husband Pete Harris and sister, Sandra Trammell.

A public visitation will be held Friday, June 18th, at the Markland Funeral Home, from 4-6 PM. Funeral will be Friday, June 18th, at 6 PM at the Markland Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Burn Institute.
