Robert Scheffler Obituary

Robert Eugene Scheffler, 69, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on Sunday, March 2nd, 2025 at his home. Robert was born in Ontario, Ohio on June 1, 1955, a son of the late Frances Irene (Elmore)  Scheffler and Robert Dean Scheffler. Robert spent most of his childhood in Ohio until his family moved to Kentucky where he graduated from Carrollton High School. Robert married Lavonne Marie (Shasky) Scheffler on July 21st, 1975. Robert and Lavonne were married over 44 years until her passing on May 5, 2019. Robert proudly served his country as a 22 year veteran of the United States Coast Guard. After his service in the military, Robert went on to be a groundskeeper for the Lawrenceburg School Corporation, retiring after 20 years. Spending time with his grandchildren is what he enjoyed most.

Robert is  survived by two sons, Dean Scheffler (Summer), of Rising Sun, IN and Ryan Scheffler (Leighsue), of Rising Sun, IN and by his grandchildren, Matthew, Jonathan, Josh, Autumn and Alexandria. Robert is also survived by a sister, Bobbie Hannan (Richard), of Lexington, OH; by two brothers, Fred  Scheffler (Alice), of Corinth, KY and Chuck Scheffler (Kay), of Frankfort, KY.  
 
A service with military honors will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, March 10th, 2025 at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, IN.
