Robert Douglas Walston

Robert Douglas Walston, 61, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on Thursday, March 26th, 2020 at Highpoint Health in, Lawrenceburg, IN.  Doug was born in Cincinnati, OH on May 27, 1958, a son of Peggy (Sackett) Day, of Dillsboro, IN and Selbert W. Walston, of Rising Sun, IN. He was a graduate of Rising Sun High School, Class of 1976.  Doug began working part time on Roy Turner's farm while he was still in school. He continued working for Turner and later Fox Farms, for over 30 years. Doug also worked at the Pierson-Hollowell Company in Lawrenceburg, IN for 15 years. Doug was the husband of Myra Weber Walston. They were married on February 18, 1978 at the Rising Sun Nazarene Church by Rev. Donald Padgett. Doug and Myra were married over 42 years until his passing.  Doug was a faithful Christian and member of Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ and formerly the Rising Sun Church of Christ. Doug was always very active in the church youth groups and love helping young people along their spiritual journey. He stayed in contact and gave inspiration to many of them over the years. Doug was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother and will be deeply missed.
Doug is survived by his wife, Myra Walston, of Rising Sun, IN; by a daughter, Joni Marie Walston, of Rising Sun, IN; by two sons, Robert Shane Walston (Laura), of Rising Sun, IN and Wesley Jay Walston (Amy), of Rising Sun, IN; by 6 grandchildren: Ben, Vada, Cole, Zoey, Madison and Matthew; by his father, Selbert "Seb" Walston, of Rising Sun, IN; by his mother, Peggy Day, of Dillsboro, IN; by two sisters, Bethany Lynn Chapman (Terry), of Rising Sun, IN and Rebecca Lee Couch (Timothy), of Austin, IN; by a brother, David Cecil Walston, of Dillsboro, IN.
 
A private family service will be held at 1PM, Monday, March 30th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Brother Davon Huss officiating. A public celebration of Doug's life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the family c/o Markland Funeral Home 327 N High St. Rising Sun, IN 47040.
