Robert Wayne Johnson

Robert Wayne "Bob" Johnson, 84, of Aurora, IN, passed away on Saturday, October 25th, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Edgewood Hospital. Bob was born in Hartford, IN on July 24, 1941, a son of the late Jessie V. (Ashcraft) Johnson and James B. Johnson. Bob grew up in the Ohio County community and attended Cass-Union Elementary School and was a 1959 graduate of Rising Sun High School. He worked early on at the Schenley Distillery and Cochran Chair Factory before beginning his career at the Aurora Casket Company which lasted over 30 years. Bob was a member of the Hartford Methodist Church and later on the Rising Sun Methodist Church. He was very active in the church and served as church treasurer. Bob also served as treasurer for the Cass-Union Scholarship Fund for many years. In his spare time Bob enjoyed collecting post cards and vintage comic books. 

Bob is survived by his brother, Kenneth Ray Johnson, Sr. and wife Phyllis, of Lawrenceburg, IN. Bob is also survived by four nephews: Allen Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, Jr., James Johnson, Stephen Johnson and by several great nieces and nephews, other family members and many friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, James & Jessie Johnson and by his brother, Jerry Dale Johnson.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Friday, October 31st, 2025 at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Tom Work officiating. Visitation will be held 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, October 31st at Markland Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Cass Union Scholarship Fund or Rising Sun Methodist Church.
