Robert "Bob" Oran Bailey

Robert Oran "Bob" Bailey, 95, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away at 12:56 AM, Tuesday, July 5th, 2022 at The Waters of Rising Sun. Bob was born in Ohio County , IN on Christmas day, December 25, 1926, a son of the late Gladys (Elliott) Bailey and Earl  Bailey. He was a graduate of Rising Sun High School, Class of 1945. After graduation, Bob served in the U.S. Army as a Pvt during WW II. While in service he received an Army of Occupation Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Bob married Ruth J. (Chipman) Bailey on January 29th, 1949. Bob and Ruth were married nearly 60 years until her passing on January 10, 2009. Bob was a faithful lifetime member of the Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ where he served as Deacon and other positions over the years. Bob was a farmer most of his life. He was also a bus driver for Rising Sun-Ohio County Schools for several years. Bob last worked at Valley Supply where his friendly and helpful nature was appreciated by the customers. Bob was a kind and loving dad, grandpa, great grandpa, uncle and friend to many.

Bob is survived by his two sons, Larry Bailey (Janie), of Rising Sun, IN and Jim Bailey (Donna), of Rising Sun, IN; by his grandchildren: Michael Bailey (Tamla), Andrew Bailey (Clarissa), David Bailey (Gina), Nathan Bailey (Katie), Eean Bailey (Nicole), Anthony Bailey (Amy) and Amanda Bailey Sexton (Nate); by his great grandchildren: Eric, Laura, Braylon, Breanna, Maddie, Kinzie, Kyle, Allie, Abbie, Lillian, Jonah, Ruthie, Addison, Alivia, Shay, Paige, Tori and Claire; by his great great granddaughter, Macy and beloved daughter-in-law, Sherry Bailey. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife Ruth, by his sister Hilda Marie Potter and by infant brother Cletus Earl Bailey.
 
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, July 11th at the Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ with Eldon Fancher officiating. Visitation will be held 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, July 10th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Burial with military honors will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ or Whitewater Christian Service Camp.
