Roger Dale Walton

Roger Dale Walton, 78, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on Saturday, September 5th, 2026 at Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood, IN. Roger was born in Batesville, IN on July 19, 1948, a son of the late Bula May (Lane) Walton and Victor  Roy Walton. He  grew up alongside his sisters on the family farm in Ohio County and was a 1966 graduate of Rising Sun High School. Roger married Sharon Kay (Robinson) Walton on April 14, 1967. Roger and Sharon were married 35 years until her passing in 2002. Sharon was the love of Roger's life and after she became ill he spent every moment he could taking care of her needs.  Roger retired from the Batesville Casket Company where he worked as truck driver for over 20 years. He also formerly drove for William L. Yelton Inc. and Robinson Trucking. Roger enjoyed being in his garage tinkering and fixing things. He was also a motorcycle enthusiast and loved to ride whenever he could.

Roger is survived by his daughter, Janella Pryce (Harry), of Conway, SC; by his son, Darren Walton (Jennifer Works), Rising Sun, IN; by his grandchildren, Katelyn Lowrimore, Kristyn Reyes, Kylee Cromer, Megan Walton, Morgan Walton, Josh Walton and Emma Walton; by his great grandchildren, Sophia, Kolson, Maile, Aubree, Charlotte and Mila; by his sisters, Judy Kirkpatrick, of Rising Sun, IN; Patsy Walcott (Bob), of East Enterprise, IN; Connie Riddell, of Dillsboro, IN; Vickie Althoff, of Madison, IN and Cathy Curry (Greg), of East Enterprise, IN. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Victor & Bula Walton; by his wife, Sharon Kay Walton; by his daughter, Sara Walton and by his brothers-in-law, Norman Kirkpatrick and Kenny Riddell.

Public visitation will be 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM, Friday, September 11th, 2026 at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM with Don Thomason officiating. Burial will be Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Ohio County Animal Shelter.
