Samuel M. Cunningham

Samuel M. Cunningham, Jr. 75, of Patriot, IN, passed away at 4:52 PM, Saturday, February 12th, 2022 at Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison, IN. Sam was born in Madison, IN on July 5, 1946, a son of the late Pauline (Henderson) Cunningham and Samuel M. Cunningham, Sr. Sam grew up in the Patriot community and attended Patriot High School. Sam worked at the Shoe Factory in Vevay, IN for several years. Tree trimming and wood cutting were always a big part of Sam's life. He was also a skilled chainsaw repairman. Sam operated his own saw shop and was a Stihl product dealer. Sam always loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting and especially fishing.

Sam is  survived by a daughter, Tasha  McElfresh and husband Rick, of Falmouth, KY; by his grandson, Thomas McElfresh; by his niece, Teresa Kolas and husband Don, of Fairfield, OH; by his nephew, Stephen James and wife Debbie, of Patriot, IN; by his brother-in-law, Harry McMurray, of Patriot, IN; and by great nephew and niece, Logan & Lauren Kolas. Sam was preceded in death by his parents and by his loving sister, Patricia McMurray.
 
Graveside Services will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, February 19th at New Liberty Cemetery in East Enterprise, IN with Pastor Mike Jones officiating. Memorial donations may be made to New Liberty Cemetery. Markland Funeral Home of Rising Sun, IN serving the family. marklandfuneralhome.com
