Sheila Marlene Walton

Sheila Marlene Walton, 80, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on Tuesday, August 4th, 2026 at the Ridgewood Health Campus in Lawrenceburg, IN. Sheila was born in Rising Sun, IN on May 12, 1946. Sheila was lovingly raised by her grandparents, Edwin and Nora Welch. She grew up in the Ohio County community and attended school there. Sheila married Roy M. Walton on February 19th, 1965 at the Rising Sun Nazarene parsonage. Sheila and Roy were married 44 years until his passing in 2009. Sheila worked several years for people cleaning, painting and was especially known for her wallpapering talents. She was later employed at Grand Victoria Casino in Rising Sun and eventually retired from Gardens Alive in Lawrenceburg. Sheila was a faithful member of the Rising Sun Church of Christ. She was a former member of and baptized at the Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ. Sheila was also an active member of the Ohio County Extension Homemakers Club and delighted in reading to children and handing out books through the Headstart program. She was also a part of the Red Hat Society and the Pink Lady Auxiliary at Dearborn County Hospital. Sheila enjoyed crocheting and going on shopping trips. She also had a green thumb and took pleasure in raising a garden and tending to her beautiful flowers. Sheila's greatest joy came from spending time with her precious family that she loved so much.

Sheila is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Walton Hannah (Rodney); by her three sons, Rocky Walton (Starla), Monty Walton (Christy) and Rusty  Walton (Mark); by her grandchildren: Adam Walton, Amanda Walton McClellan (Adam), Emily Walton (Sawyer), Tyler Walton (Kaitlyn), Evan Walton (Katelyn), Caden Walton (fiancee Dharma), Quin Walton, Jaelynn Walton, Noah Walton, Adalei Walton and Asher Walton; by her great grandchildren; Tulsa, Tallulah, Katherine, Keaton, Ella, Liliana and Ivy; by special children, Jeff and Sue Baer; by a sister, Dianna Dowdee Shannon and a brother, Robert Dowdee (Maria). Sheila was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edwin and Nora Welch, by her husband, Roy M. Walton, by her mother, Normalea Welch Dowdee and by her brothers, Kenny Whitney and Jerry Lee Dowdee.

Visitation will be held 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, August 7th, 2026 at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM at Markland Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Ridgewood Health Campus Activity Fund.
