Shirley Jane Koons

Shirley Jane Koons, 80, of Hartford, IN, passed away Tuesday, May 1st, 2018 at Highpoint Health in Lawrenceburg, IN. Shirley was born in Ohio County, IN on September 20, 1937, a daughter of the late Goldie (Bradley) and Ora Ross Colen. She attended Cass-Union School and was a graduate of Rising Sun High School, Class of 1955. Shirley formerly worked at the Charleston Powder Plant in Charleston, IN and for Cincinnati Inc. in Harrison, OH. Shirley married James David Koons on November 29, 1975. Shirley and Jim were married over 42 years. Shirley is survived by her husband James Koons, of Hartford, IN; by a daughter, Kelli Vest and husband John, of Rising Sun, IN; by a son, Norman Kirk Bayne, of KY; by a step son, David Koons, of GA; by grandchildren, Andrew, Jeremy, Ryan, Shelly and John; by a great granddaughter Ryan; by two brothers, Francis "Swede" Colen, of Rising Sun, IN and Jerry Colen, of Rising Sun, IN; and by many nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, by brothers, James Colen, Ora Colen, Jr., Paul "Ned" Colen, Michael Colen, Harold Colen and Hubert Colen, by sisters, Hilda Bovard, Ruth Stern and Barbara Ann Colen and by a grandson, Justin Vest.
