Stanley David Ballard

Stanley David Ballard, 88, of Greendale, Indiana, formerly of Rising Sun, passed away August 20, 2026. Stanley was born on March 1, 1938 in Dillsboro, Indiana, a son of Dorman and Martha (O’Conner) Ballard.  Stanley attended school at Patriot. He was employed as street commissioner for the City of Rising Sun. On October 13, 1956, he was married to Betty Jackson. Stanley and Betty shared nearly 69 joy filled years together in marriage until her passing on October 8, 2025. In their later years, the couple often enjoyed spending their mornings together having breakfast at McDonald’s. Stanley also enjoyed hunting arrowheads and playing guitar. He was a member of the Rising Sun Church of the Nazarene.

Stanley is survived by his sons David Ballard (Regina) of Patriot, Indiana, Kevin Ballard (Kerrie) of Greendale, Indiana, and Steve Ballard of Rising Sun, Indiana; daughters Debbie Chrisman  ( Marvin) of Lawrenceburg, Indiana and Kathy Scott of Greendale, Indiana; sister Franny Mondary of Rising Sun, Indiana; as well as 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents Dorman and Martha Ballard; wife Betty Ballard; son Dana Ballard; brothers Pat, Earl, Ronnie, Paul, and Gary Ballard; sisters JoAnn Hall, Betty Brady, and Shirley Lambert.

Services for Stanley will be held Monday, August 24th at the Markland Funeral Home, visitation 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, with funeral at 1:00 PM.
