Steven Gene Dilts

Steven Gene Dilts, 67, of Ohio County, IN, passed away on Friday, May 31st, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Dearborn Hospital. Steve was born in Jefferson County, IN on November 25, 1956, a son of the late Mary Evelyn Mitchell and Roy Dilts. Steve attended High School in Lawrenceburg, IN. Steve proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines as a Cpl during the Vietnam War. Steve received a Sharpshooter Rifle Badge and National Defense Service Medal while in service. He also participated in Operation Eagle Pull in Phnom Penh and Operation Frequent Wind in Saigon. Steve married the love of his life, Ruth Marie (King ) Dilts on February 22, 1976. Steve and Ruth were married nearly 45 years until her passing on January 22, 2021. Steve was a Equipment Operator for the Ohio County Highway Department for over 25 years. He also formerly worked at Fletcher Feed in Rising Sun and Pierson-Hollowell in Lawrenceburg. He was a member of Holmes Hill Church of Christ and the Rising Sun American Legion. Steve enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also liked farming and working in the garden. He loved to be on the mower, which was more of a hobby than a job to him.

Steve is  survived by two sons; Chris Dilts (Chelsie), of Milan, IN and  Ronnie King (Stephanie), of Patriot, IN; by his grandchildren: Christopher, Amanda, Taylor, Dakota and Cheyenne; and by his great grandchildren: Lydia, Lucas, Hendrix, Willow and Hunter. Steve is also survived by two sisters, Cheryl Logan, of Dillsboro, IN and  Lynn Dilts, of Aurora, IN; by two brothers, Rick Dilts, of Florence, KY and  Jeff Dilts, of Patriot, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife Ruth Dilts and by his granddaughter Cassie Dilts.
 
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday, June 5th, 2024 at the Holmes Hill Church of Christ in Aurora, IN with Tommy Johnson officiating. Military services will follow by the Southeastern Indiana Honor Guard. Public Visitation will be held 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 5th at Holmes Hill Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for funeral expense.
