Thelma Rose (Cutter) Palmer, 87, of Aurora, IN, passed away on Sunday, March 15th, 2026 at The Waters of Dillsboro. Thelma was born in Ohio County, IN on November 1, 1938, a daughter of the late Martha Francis (Dickerson) Cutter and Dale Edwin Cutter. She attended Aurora High School. Thelma married Larrie Lee Palmer on September 24th, 1960. Thelma and Larrie were married over 54 years until his passing in 2014. Thelma retired from Seagrams Distillery in 1998 after over 30 years of service. She worked in many departments over the years and helped out wherever she was needed. Thelma was a member of the Greendale First Baptist Church. Over the years she was also a member of the Aurora VFW, Aurora American Legion and the Eagles and Moose Lodges in Aurora. Thelma enjoyed gambling at the local casinos and also made several trips to Las Vegas, Tunica and Biloxi with friends and groups. She also enjoyed fishing, crocheting, watching westerns, doing puzzles and she loved Taco Tuesdays. Visiting with her grandchildren and great grandchildren is what she treasured most.
Thelma is survived by her son, David Snelling and wife Libby, of Aurora, IN and their children, Shannon Snelling, Josh Snelling and Ashley Snelling; by her daughter, Rebecca Lee and husband Scott of Aurora, IN and their children Madison Lee and Cory Lee and by her extended grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Thelma was preceded by her parents, Dale & Martha Cutter; by her husband, Larrie Lee Palmer; by her brother, Carol Cutter and by her sisters, Mary Lou Engel, Naomi Childers and Doris Canfield.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Monday, March, 23rd, 2026 at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Visitation will be held 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Monday, March 23rd at Markland Funeral. Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
