Thomas Lester Freeman

Thomas Lester Freeman, 76, of Warsaw, Kentucky, passed away March 5, 2026 at Gallatin Nursing and Rehab. Thomas was born in Campbell County, Kentucky on July 18, 1949, a son of the late James Lester Freeman and Ruth (Jones) Freeman. Early in his life, Thomas suffered the loss of his parents and siblings in a tragic accident. Following this, Thomas was lovingly raised by his grandparents. Thomas attended his local high school and went on to faithfully assist his family in the running of the family farm. Faithful service was a major theme to his life. Thomas continued this legacy of service to his community by being employed as a police officer in Newport, Kentucky, a detective, and later on, as a bus driver. He got his favorite job of all when he became grandpa, spending his time delighting in his many beloved grandchildren and making many treasured memories. Fishing was one of the ways he liked best to pass the time, often including other members of the family on his adventures, and of course could expect to hear his favorite country singer Reba McEntire playing in the background. In 1991 in Campbell County, Kentucky, Thomas was married to Nancy Ketterer, who preceded him in death. 

Thomas is survived by sons Thomas “Tommy” Freeman (Carrie) of Wyoming and James Freeman (Karla) of Flagstaff, Arizona; daughters Traci Hodge (Thomas) of Warsaw, Kentucky and Jessica Clark of Warsaw, Kentucky; and 18 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents James and Ruth Freeman; wife Nancy Freeman; daughter Rebecca “Becky” Price; brothers James H. Freeman and Robert Michael Freeman; sister Mary Katherine Freeman; as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents.  

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to assist the family. Markland Funeral Home serving the family.
