Tommie Eugene Smith, 92, of Dillsboro, IN (formerly of Rising Sun) passed away on Wednesday, May 21st, 2025 at The Waters of Dillsboro. Tom was born in Pecks Mill, WV on June 19, 1932, a son of the late Maggie (Whitaker) Smith and James Smith. He was one of nine siblings. Tom proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman First Class during the Korean War. Tom married Patsy Ann (Sackett) Smith on October 8th, 1952 in Lawrenceburg, IN. Tom and Patsy were married over 72 years until his passing. Tom retired from GE in Evendale where he worked as a millwright. Tom and Patsy had a passion for singing and enjoyed performing at local churches and nursing homes.
Tom is survived by loving wife, Patsy Smith, of Dillsboro, IN; by three sons, David Smith (Patti), of Dillsboro, IN; Jim Smith, of Lawrenceburg, IN and Donald Smith (Tammy), of Dickson, TN; by a daughter, Jane Baker-Litton, of Florence, KY; by his son-in-law, Pete Perpingon, of Rising Sun, IN; by 13 grandchildren, by several great grandchildren and by many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Tom was preceded in death by his parents , James & Maggie Smith, by his daughter, Nancy Perpingon and by his 8 brothers and sisters.
Graveside services with military honors will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Cleves, OH. Markland Funeral Home of Rising Sun, IN serving the family.
