Toni Jo (Bondurant) York

Toni Jo York, 82, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away Friday, July 10th, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Edgewood Hospital. Toni was born in Milan, IN on November 1, 1943, a daughter of the late Eloise (Liggett) Bondurant and Charles  Bondurant. Toni grew up in Ohio County and was a graduate of Rising Sun High School. Toni was the wife of Jack York. They were married on June 3, 1960. Toni furthered her education and became a medical assistant. She loved her career of helping others and developed a strong bond with her coworkers. Toni also started the Health Carriage transport service and was a member of the Ohio County Rescue Unit for many years. Toni shared an interest in antiques with her sister Shirlee and they operated the The Old Tin Lantern shop in Lawrenceburg, IN. She was a former member of the Eastern Star. Toni enjoyed gardening and taking trips out to eat at Frisch's. She was talented at sewing and quilting and loved making things for her family. Her greatest joy came from her grandchildren and great grandchildren and she always made an effort to attend whatever activity they were participating in.

Toni is survived by her loving husband, Jack York, of Rising Sun, IN; by her daughter, Lisa Sittloh (Jim), of Patriot, IN; by her son, Deron York, of Rising Sun, IN; by her sister, Shirlee Smith, of Rising Sun, IN; by her grandchildren: Derek York (Jules), Ethan York (Kelsei), Sydney York, Mahlon Sittloh and Becca Bailey (Jesse); by her great grandchildren: Jadyn Sittloh, Jaxson Sittloh, Klaire Redwine, Emma York and Ellie Rose York; by her sister-in-law, Barb Bondurant, of Lawrenceburg, IN; by her cousin, Mick Liggett (Jeanie), of Rising Sun, IN and by many loving nieces and nephews. Toni was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Eloise Bondurant and by her brother, Jerry Wayne Bondurant.

Private family services will be held on Saturday, July 18th, 2026 at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Burial will be at the Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations in Toni's honor may be made to the Rising Sun-Ohio County EMS.
