Virginia Louise (Scudder) Romans

Virginia Louise Romans, 90, of Patriot, IN, passed away Friday, March 6th, 2026 at her home. Virginia was born in Patriot, IN on December 29, 1935, a daughter of the late Agnes (Niccum) Scudder and Herman  Scudder. She grew up in Switzerland County and attended Patriot High School. She married Howard Romans on June 24,1972. Virginia and Howard were married 41 years until his passing in 2013. Virginia retired from U.S. Shoe in Vevay, IN after many years of employment. She also formerly worked at the chair factory in Rising Sun, IN. Virginia had a creative side and found pleasure in painting, drawing and sewing. She also liked to be outside gardening. Virginia and Howard took many trips together and enjoyed traveling. Spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren is what she loved most.

Virginia is  survived by her daughter, Katherine Otter, of Patriot, IN; by her son, Allen Otter, of Patriot, IN. by her grandchildren: Troy Otter, Michelle Otter, Tasha McElfresh, Justin Otter, Shane Otter, Jessica Griffin, Sasha Otter, Robyn Curry, Jodie Otter and Jamee Gray and by 18 great grandchildren. Virginia is also survived by her sister, Roxie Jacoby and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Virginia was preceded by her parents, Herman and Agnes Scudder; by her husband, Howard Romans; by her son, David Otter; by her daughter, Louise Otter; by her great grandson, Kadyen Bruner; by her brothers: Delbert, Jim, Lee, George, Harold, Gordon and James Scudder and by her sisters: Katherine Scudder, Donita Couch and Linda Downing.
 
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, March 12th, 2026 at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Rev. Jim Jenkins officiating. Visitation will be held 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 12th at Markland Funeral Home. Burial will be at Eastview Cemetery in Patriot, IN. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
