Walter Carlile Tinsley, 81, of Moores Hill, IN, passed away at 3:37 AM, Sunday, August 22nd, at The Waters of Dillsboro, Dillsboro, IN. Walter was born in Bowling Green, KY on June 16, 1940, a son of the late Lottie (Majors) and Walter Tinsley. He attended school in Rising Sun, IN and was employed at Alton Box where he received a jacket, watch, and award for not missing a single day of work in 15 years. He was also later employed at the Batesville Casket Company. On April 24, 1959, he was married to Joyce Kathleen Miller and five children were born to this union. Walter greatly enjoyed all things buy, sell, and trade and collected various items such as clothes, watches, knives, and flashlights. He was an avid fan of Marilyn Monroe and Dolly Parton. He attended church at the Holmes Hill Church of Christ.
Walter is survived by daughters, Veeta (Charlie) White of Rising Sun, IN and Lottie Armbruster, of Osgood, IN; sons Carlyle Tinsley, of Greendale, IN and Ted Tinsley of Batesville, IN; sisters Joyce Hill of Milan, IN and Sarah Tinsley of Rising Sun, IN; grandchildren Walter Tinsley, Daniel (Amy) Tinsley, Dustin Tinsley, Amy Beam, Samantha (Jason) Brunner, J.T. Armbruster, Christopher White, and Amanda Brown; and great grandchildren Isabella Brown, Amelia Beam, Claire Tinsley, Emma Tinsley, Easton Tinsley, and Scarlett Armbruster. Walter was preceded in death by son Jeffery Tinsley, daughter-in-law Evelyn Tinsley, brothers Olen Tinsley, Floyd Tinsley, Frank Tinsley, and James Tinsley, sisters Lola Mae Miller, Drotha Huffine, and Addie Tinsley, and grandson Joshua Beam.
A public visitation will be held Friday, August 27, at the Markland Funeral Home from 11 AM - 1 PM. Funeral will be Friday, August 27, at 1 PM with burial to follow at Cedar Hedge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
