Wayne Arthur Duckworth

Wayne Arthur Duckworth, age 77, of Patriot, IN entered this life on June 18, 1948. He was the loving son of the late Arthur Lee Duckworth and Bonnie and Jim Bennett. He was raised in Patriot, IN and attended Patriot Schools. Wayne was united in marriage on December 10, 1965 to Mary Evelyn Henderson. They shared 60 years of marriage together. Wayne retired from the Aurora Casket Company after 45 years of service. He also formerly worked at the Rising Sun Chair Factory. 

Wayne loved to ride motorcycles, short or long distance, he was always ready for a good ride. He accumulated several different kinds of bikes over the years. Wayne also enjoyed watching football and spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed family cookouts and time together during the holidays. 

Wayne passed away at 6:26 PM on Saturday, April 4th, 2026 at Swiss Villa in Vevay, IN.

Wayne will be missed by his loving wife, Mary Evelyn (Henderson) Duckworth, of Patriot, IN; by his daughter, Charlotte Bonfer and husband Randy of Quercus Grove, IN; by his grandchildren, Laci Waine Holt, of East Enterprise, IN and Dillan Holt, of Patriot, IN; by his bonus grandchildren, Shalynn (Brian) Berkley, of Rising Sun, IN, Brooke (TJ) Ollman, of Independence, KY and Skyler (JR) Mosley, of Rising Sun, IN; by his great grandchildren: Arianna, Harper and Kendrick (Bub) Bonfer, Cole, Kayden and Kyler McClellan, Keaton and Aiden Mosley, Brianna Berkley, Izabella Ollman, MaKenzie, Hillary and Eleanor Harlow; by his sister, Amber (Ronnie) Reed; by brothers-in-law, Herbie (Shirley) Henderson and Sherman Henderson; by sisters-in-law, Ruth Huntington, Dorthy Leap and LuAnn Bennett and by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Lee Duckworth and Bonnie and Jim Bennett, by his father & mother-in-law , Sherman and Mary Ellen Henderson, by his brother, Bruce Bennett, by sisters-in-law, Lena Henderson and Pearl Henderson, by brothers-in-law, Danny Henderson, Jimmy Henderson and Billy Henderson, and grandparents Arthur and Charlotte Duckworth.

A special thanks to very special neighbors Brian & Teresa Winter and all the neighbors that were there to lend a helping hand to Wayne and Evelyn, it is deeply appreciated.

Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Friday, April 10th, 2026 at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 PM with Pastor Mike Jones officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
