William Wesley "Wes" Walston

William Wesley "Wes" Walston, 88, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on Wednesday, September 2nd, 2026 at his home. Wes was born in Rising Sun, IN on July 31, 1938, a son of the late Elisabeth (Cole) Walston and Selbert W. Walston, Sr. Wes proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was also a lifetime member of the Aurora and Rising Sun American Legions and the Aurora VFW and enjoyed spending time with friends there. He also looked forward to his frequent visits to Jack's Place where he was a regular. Wes retired from Laborer's Union #806 after 25 years. He spent 17 of those years in hazardous waste management for the Bechtel Company. Wes was eager to share his knowledge with others and was a Scout Master for 27 years. Wes was also a member of the Holmes Hill Church of Christ and treasured the visits with his pastor Tommy Johnson. He loved watching old westerns and was an avid John Wayne fan. Wes cherished his little dog Jackson and enjoyed taking him for walks along the river.

Wes is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, other family members and a host of friends that he loved very much. Wes was preceded in death by his parents, Elisabeth & Selbert Walston, Sr.; by his sisters, Violet Randall and Melody Walston and by his brothers, Selbert, Timothy, Kenny, Steve and Joe Walston.

Public Visitation will be held 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 8th, 2026 at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM with Tommy Johnson officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Cedar Hedge Cemetery in Rising Sun, IN. Memorial donations may be made to Our Hospice or the Rising Sun American Legion.
